Unstuffing
A camping group 4th of July tradition, as well as at Thanksgiving
Ingredients
- 3/4 c. chopped celery
- 1 med. onion, chopped
- 6 Tbls. butter
- 1-1/2 t. poultry seasoning
- 1/2 t. salt
- 1/4 t. pepper
- 1 pkg. sage & onion stuffing cubes
- 1 can of cream of mushroom soup
- 14-1/2 oz. can of chicken broth
- 1 c. dried cherries or cranberries (optional)
- 1/2 c. dried apricots, cut up (optional)
Instructions
Sauté onion and celery in butter for 2-3 minutes or until onion is tender.
Stir in poultry seasoning, salt and pepper.
Transfer to a large bowl; add stuffing cubes, cream of mushroom soup and broth to moisten. Add dried cherries or cranberries and apricots, if you desire..
Place in a greased 2-qt. baking dish. Cover and bake at 350 degrees for 30-45 minutes. Uncover and bake an additional 10 minutes.
NOTE: If you like your stuffing even “more” moist, add a bit more broth. Serves 8-10.
You can assemble ahead of time and bake the next day.
