Turtle Cake

Ingredients
- 1 box German or devil’s food chocolate cake mix
- 1 (14 oz.) bag of caramels
- 3/4 c. butter
- 1/2 c. evaporated milk
- 1 c. dark or semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 c. chopped pecans
- 8 oz. container of Truwhip (a healthier version of Cool Whip)
Instructions
Mix cake according to directions on package.
Grease and flour a 9x13" cake pan and pour half of the batter into the pan. Put pan into the oven to bake for 15 minutes at 350 degrees. While baking, start caramel mixture.
Caramel Sauce: In a saucepan, over low heat, melt caramels, butter and milk.
Remove cake from oven and pour caramel mixture over the half-baked cake. Top with chocolate chips, nuts and remaining batter.
Continue to bake cake for an additional 15-20 minutes.
When serving, top with Cool Whip or fresh whipped cream.
