Poppyseed Bread
Excellent Flavor
Ingredients
- 1 c. canola oil (or 1/2 c. unsweetened applesauce & 1/2 c. oil)
- 2-1/4 c. white sugar
- 3 eggs, slightly beaten
- 1-1/2 c. milk
- 1-1/2 t. each of vanilla, almond and butter extracts
- 3 c. all-purpose unbleached white flour
- 1-1/2 t. baking powder
- 1-1/2 Tbls. poppy seeds
Glaze
- 3/4 c. sugar
- 1/4 c. orange juice
- 1/2 t. butter
- 1/2 t. vanilla
- 1/2 t. almond extracts
Instructions
Combine oil, sugar, eggs; add milk and extracts. Stir in dry ingredients. Pour into 2 greased and floured loaf pans.
Bake at 350 degrees for about an hour. Cool in pan 5 minutes; loosen edges with a knife and pour over glaze. Let stand 5 more minutes and remove from pans to cool.
GLAZE: Mix ingredients, bring to a boil and pour over warm bread.
