Philly Steak & Cheese Skillet
All the flavor of Philly Cheese Steak without the Carbs!
Good served over Basmatti rice if you desire.

Ingredients
- 1-1/2 lbs. good quality and beef steak (tenderloin or stew meat), cut into bite size pieces
- 1 large sweet onion (chopped to 1/4 inch)
- 1 large green pepper, julienned
- 1 large red pepper, julienned
- 1 large orange pepper, julienned
- 1-2 Tbls. olive oil
- 1-2 Tbls. sesame oil
- 2 large cloves garlic, minced
- ¾ c. brandy
Sauce
- 1 Tbls. fresh ginger, grated
- 3 Tbls. Kikkoman low sodium soy-sauce
- 2 Tbls. Worcestershire Sauce
- 2 Tbls. mirin
- 1 Tbls. sriracha
- 1/3 c. ketchup
- 1-1/2 c. grated provolone cheese
Instructions
Add 1 tablespoon each of olive oil and sesame oil to a large oven proof skillet over medium high heat. Keeping heat high enough, brown steak. Remove from skillet, cover and keep warm in a large bowl (you will be adding onions and peppers).
Add more olive oil if necessary and add onions. Cook on high until lightly browned on edges. Remove from skillet and place over beef, cover and keep warm.

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Mix ginger, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, mirin, sriracha and ketchup; set aside.
Add a little sesame oil to skillet over low heat; add garlic and cook for 30 seconds. Add brandy and cook to reduce by half (only takes 2-3 minutes). Add sauce ingredients and simmer for 5 minutes.
Add steak, onions and peppers back to the skillet. Top with cheese. Place in oven and bake for an additional 5 minutes. Then turn oven to broil and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes or until cheese melts and is lightly browned.
Serves 6
NOTE: You can marinate steak with a little red wine vinegar, soy sauce and Worcestershire sauce for a few hours prior to making this dish, if you’d like.
If you don’t mind the carbs, serve with basmatti rice.
Be careful adding Brandy over an open flame, alcohol is flammable.
