Peppermint Meltaways

Festive for Christmas and melt in your mouth!
Ingredients
- 1 c. butter
- ½ c. powdered sugar
- ½ t. peppermint extract
- 1-1/4 c. unbleached white all-purpose flour
- ½ c. cornstarch
Frosting
- 2 Tbls. butter, softened
- 1-1/2 c. powdered sugar
- 2 Tbls. milk
- ¼ t. peppermint extract
- 1-2 drops red food coloring, optional
- ½ c. crushed candy canes
Instructions
In a small bowl, cream butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in extract.
Combine flour and cornstarch; gradually add to creamed mixture and mix well.
Shape into 1-inch balls. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheets.
Bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes or until bottoms are lightly browned. Remove to wire racks to cool.
