Orange Brownies

Ingredients

  • 1 c. butter
  • 2 c. white sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 t. pure orange extract
  • 1-1/2 c. all-purpose unbleached white flour
  • 1 t. salt
  • 1 t. grated orange zest (save juice for glaze)

Orange Glaze

  • 1 c. powdered sugar
  • 2 Tbls. freshly squeezed orange juice (Valencia orange)
  • 1-2 t. finely grated orange zest

Instructions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Grease a 9 x 13 inch baking pan and set aside. With a handheld mixer, cream butter, sugar, eggs, extract and zest until well blended.

Stir in flour and salt.

Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until light golden brown and set.

Remove from oven and pierce top of entire pan with a fork or cake tester.

Glaze: Combine all ingredients for glaze in a bowl and mix with hand held mixer until smooth. Pour glaze over cake and spread with a spreader or spatula. Cool and cut into squares.
