Oatmeal: Baked Apple

Perfect during the winter months

Ingredients

  • 2-2/3 c. old fashioned oats (not quick-cook)
  • 2 Tbls. butter, melted
  • 1/3 c. packed brown sugar
  • 1 t. ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 t. salt
  • 4 c. milk
  • 2 medium apples, chopped (Granny Smith)
  • 1/2 c. Dole raisins or Craisins, optional
  • 1/2 c. chopped walnuts, optional (add after baked)
  • extra brown sugar, for serving
  • extra milk, for serving

Instructions

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

In a large bowl, mix oats, raisins or Craisin, milk, brown sugar, butter, cinnamon, salt and apples. Pour into a greased 2 quart casserole dish.

Bake uncovered 50 minutes to 1 hour, or until most liquid is absorbed. Top with walnuts if desired.

Serve chopped walnuts, a little brown sugar and extra milk, if desired.

NOTE: Serves 6-8
