Lasagna: No Fuss

Ingredients

  • 1-1/2 lb. lean ground chuck or sirloin
  • 3 c. water
  • 2 pkgs. Lawry's thick spaghetti sauce
  • 12 oz. tomato paste
  • 1 Tbls. white sugar
  • 4 t. dried parsley flakes
  • 1/2 t. garlic salt
  • salt/pepper to taste
  • 9-12 uncooked lasagna noodles (whole wheat or Dreamfield’s)
  • 1 c. shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 c. shredded cheddar cheese

Filling

  • 12 oz. dry cottage cheese
  • 1 c. shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 c. shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 eggs, beaten

Instructions

In large saucepan, brown meat and drain fat. Add tomato paste, water, spaghetti sauce mix and spices. Simmer partially covered for 20 minutes.

Combine the filling ingredients and set aside.

Spoon 1/3 of the meat sauce into a greased 9 x 13" baking dish or lasagna pan. Top with 4 uncooked lasagna noodles. Add another 1/3 of the meat sauce. Press down as you layer.

Spread filling layer on top of meat sauce followed by another layer of uncooked lasagna noodles and top with the rest of the meat sauce.

Cover and refrigerate overnight.

Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour covered. Uncover; sprinkle with cheeses and bake an additional 15 minutes. Let stand 10 minutes before serving.

NOTE: You can also substitute your own spaghetti sauce, or jarred sauce.
