Hot Fudge Chocolate Pudding Cake II

A rich chocolate fudge sauce forms underneath layer of chocolate cake.
Ingredients
- 1 c. unbleached all purpose white flour
- 1/2 c. white sugar
- 1/4 c. unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 t. baking powder
- 1/4 t. salt
- 3/4 c. milk
- 1/4 c. butter, melted
- 1 t. vanilla
- 1/4 c. chopped walnuts, optional
- Vanilla ice cream for serving
Fudge Sauce
- 1/2 c. white sugar
- 1/2 c. packed light brown sugar
- 3 Tbls. unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1-1/4 c. boiling water
Instructions
Cake: Combine 1/2 c. white sugar with the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder and salt. Add in the milk, butter and vanilla; whisk until smooth and fairly lump free. Fold in walnuts, if using.
Pour batter into a greased 9-inch square baking pan and spread evently.
Fudge Sauce: Combine 1/2 c. white sugar, brown sugar and 3 tablespoons cocoa powder. Evenly sprinkle mixture over the batter. Slowly pour the boiling water over the top (Do not stir or mix into the batter, allow the water to sit on top).
Bake at 350 degrees (325 degrees for glass dish) for 35 minutes or until the center is almost set. Remove from oven. Allow to cool for 15 minutes.
Serve in dessert dishes with a vanilla ice cream. Spoon fudge sauce from the bottom of the pan over top of each serving of cake.
