Shared with me by: Pat K B (Mark's mom)
Makes 2 loaves, freeze one
Ingredients
- 2 lbs. ground ham (see Note below)
- 1 lb. ground round beef
- small onion, chopped fine
- 2 eggs
- 1 c. soft bread crumbs (2 slices in mini food processor) or 3/4 c. dry store bought bread crumbs
- 1 c. milk
- 1/4 t. pepper
- 1 t. salt
Sauce
- 1/4 c. water
- 2/3 c. brown sugar
- 1/2 c. cider vinegar
- 1-1/2 t. dry mustard
- juice of half a lemon
Instructions
Mix ham, ground round beef, onion, eggs, bread crumbs, milk, salt and pepper. Divide mixture equally and place in 2 greased loaf pans.
You can freeze one loaf if you'd like and bake another day (freeze in a foil loaf pan).
Mix sauce ingredients and pour over each loaf, dividing accordingly.
Bake at 350° for 1-1/2 hours. Pour off fat and slice.
NOTE: Get the ground ham from a meat place/butcher (I use Jacobs Meat Market). You usually need to call ahead to order it.
