These tacos use lettuce wraps instead of tortilla and taste amazing!
The steak is seasoned with cumin and spices, then grilled, sliced thin and served with guacamole and pico de gallo.

Ingredients

  • lettuce shells from 1 head (iceberg lettuce works best)
  • Steak:
  • 1 lb thin sirloin steaks
  • 1 t. kosher salt
  • 1 t. ground cumin
  • 1/2 t. garlic powder
  • 1/8 t. dried oregano
  • pinch fresh ground pepper
  • Pico De Gallo:
  • 1/2 c. diced tomato
  • 1/4 c. chopped onion
  • 1 Tbls. minced jalapeno
  • 1 t. lime juice
  • 1/4 t. kosher salt
  • Guacamole:
  • 1 haas avocado (about 4 oz.)
  • 1/4 c. diced tomato
  • 2 Tbls. diced red onion
  • 2 t. fresh lime juice
  • 2 t. chopped cilantro
  • 1/2 t. kosher salt
  • fresh black pepper, to taste

Instructions

Combine steak marinade ingredients (salt, cumin, garlic powder, oregano and black pepper) and rub over the steak. Place on a plate or platter, cover with saran wrap and refrigerate for several hours or all day.

PICO DE GALLO: Just before grilling, combine chopped tomato, chopped onion, jalapeno, lime juice and salt. Set aside for flavors to blend.

GUACAMOLE: While steak is grilling, mash the avocado in a small bowl with the tomato, red onion, cilantro, lime juice, salt and pepper to taste. Set aside.

GRILL STEAK: Heat a grill over high heat. Clean grates and spray with oil. Cook the steaks over high heat 2 to 3 minutes on each side, until the steak is cooked to your liking.

Set aside on a cutting board, cover with foil and let rest 5 minutes before slicing. Slice into thin strips.

To serve, fill each lettuce cups with 1 1/2 tablespoon of guacamole, top with steak and a little pico de gallo.
