Fantasy Fudge

Ingredients

  • 3/4 c. (1-1/2 sticks) butter
  • 3 c. white sugar
  • 1/4 t. salt
  • 2/3 c. (5 oz.) undiluted evaporated milk
  • 1 jar (7 oz.) KRAFT marshmallow cream
  • 1 pkg. (12 oz.) semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips
  • 1 t. vanilla
  • 1/2 c. chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)

Instructions

Lightly grease a 9 x 13" baking dish.

Stove top Option: Melt butter; stir in sugar, salt and evaporated milk. Bring to a boil and reduce heat, and stir constantly until candy thermometer reaches 234 degrees (about 4 minutes).

Remove from heat and stir in marshmallow cream, chocolate chips and vanilla. Fold in nuts and stir quickly until smooth.

Microwave Option: In a 4 qt. microwavable bowl, microwave the butter or margarine on HIGH for 1 minute. Add sugar and milk; mix well.

Microwave for 5 minutes on HIGH, or until mixture begins to boil; stirring after 3 minutes. Mix well and scrape bowl.

Microwave on HIGH 5-1/2 minutes; stirring after 3 minutes.

Remove bowl from microwave and gradually stir in vanilla and chocolate chips until melted. Add marshmallow cream; mix well. Stir in nuts if desired.

Pour into prepared pan and cool at room temperature for at least 4 hours.

Cut into squares.

NOTE: Store in refrigerator.
