Cheeseburger Pizza
Source: Ree Drummond (The Pioneer Woman)
This pizza has the big cheeseburger flavor, right down to the toppings and the sesame seed bun crust all around the edge.
Use a flat sheet pan without sides (easier to cut with pizza cutter).
Ingredients
- 1 lb. ground sirloin or ground chuck
- 1 small onion, finely diced
- kosher salt and black pepper, to taste
- ¼ c. ketchup, plus more for drizzling
- ¼ c. yellow mustard, plus more for drizzling
- 1 t. seasoned salt (such as Lawry’s)
- 2–3 dashes Worcestershire sauce
- 1 lb. loaf Rhodes frozen bread or pizza dough, thawed and at room temperature
- 1 Tbls. sesame seeds
- 2 c. grated cheddar cheese
- 1 c. grated mozzarella cheese
Toppings
- 2 c. finely shredded lettuce
- 1-2 roma tomatoes, diced
- 1 c. finely diced dill pickles
- 3 slices cooked center-cut bacon, roughly chopped
- sliced green onions
Instructions
In a medium skillet over medium-high, cook beef with onion and a pinch of salt and pepper until meat is browned and cooked through; stirring to crumble. Pour off or drain excess grease. Stir in ketchup, mustard, seasoned salt and Worcestershire. Cook 2 minutes. Remove from heat.
Stretch dough into a large oval or rectangle on an ungreased sheet pan with no sides (sprinkle a little cornmeal on baking sheet, if desired). Drizzle with a little oil; sprinkle with salt and pepper.
Combine cheeses and set aside 1–2 tablespoons for garnish. Sprinkle two-thirds of remaining cheese mixture over dough, leaving a 1-inch border.
Top with meat mixture and remaining cheese mixture.
Brush edges of dough with oil; sprinkle with sesame seeds. Bake at 425 degrees for 15–17 minutes or until cheese is melted and crust is golden.
If desired, drizzle with a little ketchup and mustard. Top with lettuce and tomatoes. Sprinkle with pickles, reserved cheese mixture, bacon and green onions.
