Sauce: Caramel Apple Pecan Sauce
Source: The Olive Cellar, Northland Ave., Appleton
You can also use the Red Apple Balsamic Vinegar in a balsamic vinaigrette salad dressing, instead of using plain balsamic.
Ingredients
- ½ c. red apple balsamic vinegar (specialty oilery stores)
- ¾ c. brown sugar
- 2 Tbls. butter
- pecans, coarsely chopped (optional)
Ways To Use . . .
- Drizzle over ice cream
- Add to oatmeal
- Stir into yogurt
- Spoon onto baked sweet potatoes
- Drizzle over apple wedges or bananas
Instructions
Melt butter over medium heat, add red apple balsamic vinegar, brown sugar and pecans, if using.
Simmer until sugar dissolves completely (only talks 1-2 minutes). It will look syrupy, but will thicken and become saucy as it cools. Be careful not to burn! If you overcook, it will turn hard.
Store at room temperature, in a glass jar or other type of food storage container.
NOTE: Feel free to cut ingredients in half, if you don't need much.
