Beef Stew Meat: Goulash (Slow Cooker)

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. beef stew meat
  • 1 Tbls. olive oil
  • 1 c. beef broth (I used Kitchen Basics)
  • small onion, chopped
  • ¼ c. ketchup
  • 1 Tbls. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1-1/2 t. brown sugar
  • 1-1/2 t. paprika
  • ¼ t. ground dry mustard
  • 1 Tbls. unbleached white all-purpose flour
  • 2 Tbls. warm water
  • hot cooked egg noodles for 2 people

Instructions

In a large skillet, brown beef in oil then drain liquid. Transfer to a 1-1/2 quart slow cooker.

Combine the broth, onion, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, paprika and mustard. Pour over beef. Cover and cook on low for 8 – 9 hours (meat should be tender).

In a small bowl, combine flour and water until smooth. Gradually stir into beef mixture. Cover and cook on high 30 minutes longer until thickened.

Serve over cooked egg noodles (follow instructions on package).

NOTE: Serves 2. Increase recipe accordingly to serve more.
