Apple Pizza

Ingredients

  • 2-1/2 c. all-purpose unbleached white flour
  • 1 Tbls. all-purpose unbleached white flour
  • 1 t. sugar
  • 1 t. salt
  • 1 c. shortening (Crisco butter flavored baking sticks)
  • 1 egg yolk
  • milk to make 2/3 cup
  • 3/4 c. crushed Cornflakes cereal
  • 8 apples, sliced and peeled
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/8 t. nutmeg
  • 1/4 c. all-purpose unbleached white flour
  • 1/2 c. white sugar
  • 1 t. cinnamon
  • 1 c. powdered sugar
  • 2-3 Tbls. milk
  • 1 t. fresh lemon juice

Instructions

Stir flour, sugar and salt; cut in shortening. Put egg in measuring cup and add milk to make 2/3 cup. Add to flour mixture and mix until dough forms a ball. Roll out to a 13-inch circle. Transfer dough to a round 12-inch pizza pan. Flute the edges and set aside.

Layer crushed cornflakes on crust. Top with apples mixed with sugar and nutmeg.

Mix flour, sugar and cinnamon and sprinkle over the apples.

Bake at 400 degrees for 30-35 minutes.

Mix powdered sugar, milk and lemon juice for glaze. Drizzle pizza while warm.

Cut into wedges and serve.
